Looking for cabinet knobs for your kitchen? A knob is small, but it determines how your fronts look. In this article, you will read which material and which color suit your kitchen, which knob belongs with which handle, and how to mount a knob straight.
Short answer
You mount a cabinet knob with one screw through one drilled hole. Choose the material based on your kitchen style: stainless steel for sleek and timeless, matte black for contrast on light fronts, gold for a warm accent, and wood for a rustic or Scandinavian kitchen. At Grepenwinkel, cabinet knobs cost between €3.99 and €12.97.
What cabinet knobs are available?
| Material | Suits | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Stainless steel (silver) | Modern and sleek kitchens | Athene stainless steel (€6.50), Las Vegas (€12.97) |
| Matte black | White, gray, and wooden fronts | Athene black (€3.99), Boston (€6.99), Helsinki (€7.99) |
| Gold | Marble, light wood tones, dark fronts | Sydney (€6.99), Bali (€8.99), both also available in stainless steel and black |
| Wood | Rustic and Scandinavian kitchens | Oslo (€3.99), Kopenhagen oak (€3.99) |
Which knob color suits your fronts?
- White or light gray fronts: matte black provides the most contrast, gold looks softer.
- Wooden fronts: matte black or stainless steel; wooden knobs blend in here.
- Dark fronts: stainless steel or gold, so that the knob remains visible.
- Wrapped fronts: check the handle advice per wrap film.
Which knob belongs with which handle?
Do you have handles on the drawers and knobs on the upper cabinets? Then choose the same model, so everything matches. With the Amsterdam black, you simply choose the knob in the same size (€3.99). The Athene has a separate black knob and stainless steel knob. Sydney and Bali are available in black, gold, and stainless steel, so you can easily combine them with handles in the same color.
How do you mount a cabinet knob?
Determine the position
Place the knob on the side opposite the hinge, at the same distance from the edge on all doors. A cardboard template with one hole makes this easy.
Drill one hole
Apply masking tape to the front, drill from front to back, and hold a piece of scrap wood against the back, so the front does not split.
Screw in from the inside
Tighten the knob from the inside of the door. Do not overtighten, so the front remains intact. More explanation is available in the installation guide.
Are there already two holes from an old handle in your door? Then choose a handle with the same size. Read how to measure the center-to-center size or how to replace handles without drilling.

Frequently asked questions about cabinet knobs
How much does a cabinet knob cost?
At Grepenwinkel, a cabinet knob costs between €3.99 and €12.97, depending on the model and material.
How many knobs do I need?
Count the doors and drawers. An average kitchen has about 20; order one extra as a spare.
Can I use different knobs in one kitchen?
Yes, but stick to one color and material. A mix of models in the same color looks harmonious; a mix of colors quickly looks cluttered.
